The last couple weeks have been a bit of a farce around here. Between drama, trauma, and injuries, I spent this last weekend alternately burying my head in the sand, and trying to stop myself from chewing off my fingernails. It's been crazy.
First... my training update - HUGE success happening there! I dropped 6% body fat and added several pounds of muscle. YAY! There was visible change in my photos, which I'll post soon. My diet is increasingly challenging - I'm grateful for the Daiya products as I can still get my melty, gooey cheese, lol. Workouts going well... I started getting some aches and pains, so we planned in some downtime, but otherwise I'm doing great. As you'll read below, the downtime came sooner than we planned. Personally... we had a huge upset - actually two - last weekend. The first was a 14 year old girl jumped into our pool at a party - right on top of my son's dog. She wasn't hurt other than a slight scratch behind her ear (the dog is ok, too), but her mother went psycho-sue-us-meltdown. Drug her daughter to the ER where she screamed and yelled about the vicious dog at our house. All they did was put a piece of tape on the girl's ear, but an animal control report was made. Major drama. Winnie finished up his 10-day quarantine (they do that anytime there's a 'dog bite' incident) and the case has now been closed. However, it really was a mess. Worse... earlier that day, our oldest and her boyfriend brought their mini pin over - we had told them before NOT to do this as Sadie doesn't like the dog. Guess what happened. Ugh. A visit to the vet and little Axel is healing fine (just a patch of skin, didn't even break into the fleshy part of his leg). More drama. THEN... a 16 year old had a breakdown (was something in the air???) and that wasn't fun. More and more drama from that over the next few days. Then we got ready for graduation last Thursday... my family arrived (YAY!!!) and off we dashed. We had dinner at an old favorite, where I promptly got food poisoning. Bad. I made it, by the skin of my teeth, through the ceremony, then had to stop at a gas station. Got home and spent the next 6 hours in the bathroom puking. NO FUN. And that was supposed to be my carb load night! Waaaaahhhh!!! ;-) Finally recovering from that, I crawled out to the patio at 7:30 am the next morning to try a cup of coffee, and..... Because YES, it gets worse.... My foot ended up between Bear (6 mo old puppy) and Sadie (155 lb Mastiff). My foot lost. I was badly bit, but couldn't go the ER because of the existing Animal Control Report (damn that sue-happy woman!). Can't you see them showing up to just take all our dogs? Two incidents in a week? So, fear wouldn't allow me to go to the hospital for stitches. We ended up doing butterfly bandages, and so far so good. However, the first two days I couldn't walk on it at all. The next two, I couldn't get a shoe on it. Needless to say, no gym. My food stayed clean, but not being able to workout really, really, really messed with my head. Today I was able to get a shoe on, so after physical therapy for my wrist, I headed to the gym. I did an hour on the stairmaster successfully. Yay!!! I'll go back in a bit for Chest/Shoulders and more cardio just to make up for what I've missed. I did bleed through the butterflies, boooo, but not much, so hopefully this doesn't mean the end of my competition journey. That's been my biggest terror. And when I say terror, I'm seriously understating it. I'm keeping a close eye on the foot. Any sign of trouble and I'll head to my primary doctor, but so far, it seems to be healing. The swelling is way down, the nasty redness is gone. Now it's a lovely shade of purple, lol. Lots of ice and some neosporin. Poor Sadie has been an angel... never leaving my side. When it happened, she laid down across my legs while Bill tried to mop it up, and she just nuzzled me trying to comfort. She's never seen me cry, lol. The bottom of my foot isn't bad at all... just a little slice that's already closed up, and one of the punctures on the top has already closed. It's just the one long gash that is the problem. It appears to have closed up well, just a little spot in the middle and one on the end bleed a bit if there's pressure. After my next round at the gym today, I'll clean it up again and put on new butterfly strips. Wish me luck and speedy healing, please!!!! Oy. Never a dull moment. __________________ Chelle " YES!! Wow, way to much going on! I like uneventful.
The first rule of jumping in any body of water is look first...that being said accidents happen however the person responsible should acknowledge the error and apologize. It does no one any good to deny that people make mistakes and blame everyone else for their wrongful behaviour, ugh, so wrong, so very very wrong. It could have easily been another person she jumped on and injured. I hope you are feeling well soon, hang in there.
